How to apply

Bonding Liquid

  • Enhanced Flexibility
  • Increased Strength
  • Add Mixture

KWIKbond is added This guide explains how to correctly use KWIKbond to improve bond strength, flexibility, and water resistance through proper mixing and application practices.

ESSENTIAL APPLICATION REQUIREMENTS

The following requirements apply to all KWIKbond installations and must be followed for correct performance.

Installation Conditions

The following requirements apply to all KWIKbond applications and must be followed to achieve optimal performance.

  • Use KWIKbond in place of water, not in addition to it
Do not dilute with water unless specifically instructed for priming or slurry applications.
  • Follow correct mix ratios for the intended use
Mixing ratios vary depending on whether KWIKbond is used with tile adhesives, grouts, screeds, or slurries. Always refer to the product-specific instructions.
  • Mix thoroughly for consistent performance
Ensure KWIKbond is evenly blended with the dry powder to achieve uniform strength, flexibility, and water resistance.
  • Only mix quantities usable within the working time
KWIKbond does not extend pot life. Discard material that has begun to stiffen.
  • Do not re-temper mixed material
Adding additional liquid after mixing will compromise performance.
  • Ensure substrates are correctly prepared before application
KWIKbond enhances performance but does not compensate for poor surface preparation.
  • Clean tools immediately after use
KWIKbond-enhanced mixes can be more difficult to remove once dried.

Substitute Water for KWIKbond

  • On dense, sealed, painted, or smooth substrates
  • In wet areas or moisture-prone environments
  • Where additional flexibility is required to accommodate movement
  • For high-performance or high-traffic installations
  • When improved colour consistency and durability are required in grouts

Bond mixing ratios & use cases

KWIKbond is used in place of water to upgrade the performance of cement-based products. Always measure accurately and follow the recommended ratios for each application.

Tile Adhesives (Enhanced Performance)

Mix Ratio

  • Replace 100% of the mixing water with KWIKbond
  • Do not dilute unless specifically instructed

Use This When

  • Tiling onto dense, sealed, or non-porous substrates
  • Installing porcelain or large-format tiles
  • Tiling in wet areas (bathrooms, showers, kitchens)
  • Additional flexibility or bond strength is required
  • Improved adhesion is needed for tile-on-tile installations

Performance Benefits

  • Increased bond strength
  • Improved flexibility
  • Enhanced water resistance
  • Reduced risk of debonding on difficult surfaces

Grout (Upgraded Performance)

Mix Ratio

  • Replace 100% of the mixing water with KWIKbond

Use This When

  • Improved water resistance is required
  • Colour consistency and colour fastness are important
  • Grouting in wet or moisture-prone areas
  • Increased durability is required over standard grout performance

Performance Benefits

  • Improved stain resistance
  • Enhanced colour stability
  • Reduced water absorption
  • Stronger, more durable joints

Screeds & Self-Levelling Compounds

Mix Ratio

  • Replace 50–100% of the mixing water with KWIKbond
(depending on performance and dosage requirements)

Use This When

  • Bonding to dense or smooth concrete
  • Improving cohesion and reducing dusting
  • Enhancing flexural strength
  • Preparing substrates for demanding floor finishes

Performance Benefits

  • Improved adhesion to substrate
  • Increased surface strength
  • Reduced surface dusting
  • Enhanced durability

Curing and Cleaning

KWIKbond is a performance-enhancing additive and does not cure independently. Curing times, cleaning methods, and return-to-service requirements are governed by the cement-based product it is used with, such as tile adhesive, grout, or screed.

Important Notes

Correct curing and cleaning practices are essential to achieve the enhanced bond strength, flexibility, and durability provided by KWIKbond.
