The tile adhesive bed thickness shown below refers to the final thickness after installation, once the tile has been pressed in and the ridges have fully collapsed, not the height of the trowel notch itself.
For example, a 10 mm trowel notch does not create a 10 mm adhesive bed. It results in approximately 5 mm of tile adhesive thickness when installed correctly.

Tile Adhesive Coverage Targets (Non-Negotiable)

- 80% minimum in dry interior areas
- 95% minimum in wet areas, showers, bathrooms, and floors

Back-buttering is mandatory to achieve proper tile adhesive coverage when installing:
- Large-format tiles
- Porcelain tiles
- Natural stone
- Slabs

- Be forced firmly into the back of the tile
- Fill all pores and surface recesses
